Are you looking for a method to help support skills that your child is working on in school and with therapists? Video modeling can be that method. If your child can watch television for at least three minutes, your child can benefit from video modelling.

As a special education teacher who works with children with autism, I know how difficult it can be to hold a student’s attention while trying to teach or maintain a new skill. Video modeling can help with that. Many children with autism are extremely visual. Using video modeling is a perfect match for children with autism.

What is video modelling?

Video modeling is basically taking a skill that you want your child to acquire or maintain and videotaping it, either using your child, siblings, or yourself to model the appropriate behaviors.

What does NYC Sight Seen do?

We make a DVD by filming the necessary footage, edit the footage, include pictures and music where needed, and create a DVD that you can play for your child at any time.

What skills are appropriate for video modeling?

Just about any skill or behavior you can think of. From social skills, such as greetings and playing with peers, to behaviors, such as “quiet hands” or “quiet feet.”

If you feel that video modeling may benefit your child or you would like to learn more, please email us at nycsightseen@gmail.com
